Pretty Addictions review

So I've mentioned once or twice here how much I love Pretty Addictions cosmetics...Well, what do you think you're getting in this post? Yup!
I haven't ordered anythin from PA in about 6 months, but believe me, I've been drooling over the eye candy goodies since then. I was being good nd not buyin, until Kas had to torment us on her FB page on Monday (Halloween) saying that every order placed that day would receive something extra in their order. So Idid what any makeup addict would do when faced with that offer..I placed an order. This time it was just for 3 clamshell samples. I ordered Electic Lemonade, Gossip, and Wicked.
I placed my order Monday (The day before the bf and I's no spend november was set to kick off...one final purchase..) and it arrived Friday. Great TAT, although I admit, I was already impatient come Wednesday to get my goodies. When they came, it took all I had not to rip into them at the mailbox. But I refrained, in order to take a picture for all of you. You're welcome.
Love the leopard print wrapping everything comes in ;)

Here's what was inside:
The three small containers came shrinked wrapped together, whch I loved..it prevents spillage. The trick or treat sticker hides the extra surprise that was thrown in with my order.

This is everytinhg that came with my order. Remember, my camera sucks, so this isn't the most clear picture in the world.
Let's take a closer look at what I got!

Electric Lemondae. There's not much difference in the two pictures, but I felt you could see the sparkle better in the bottom shot. In both pictures, Lemonade was swatched on bare skin (top stripe) and over NXY white Base Camp primer(bottom stripe)

I love this color! It's so vibrant, but not garish. This seems to be a cousin of Obnoxious...one that's not quite a party animal, lol

Gossip. This one is super super pretty, and probably my favorite out of all I ordered. It really pops, as you can see above, over primer. I'm going to be using this in a look today, pictures later.

Wicked: I have to admit, I flip-flopped a bit before ordering this one. I have way too many black shadows that go unused in my drawer, simply because I am not a black shadow girl. Never have been. But Wicked looked to damn interesting to pass up, so I went ahead and got it. I'm glad I did. The sparkle in this is awesome, and it's got an almost purple tone. It's also super pigmented, even on bare skin (right swatch)

Fiona: This is the bagged sample I got for free (Kas is known to include a free baggie sample with purchases. Last time I ordered, I got Bloom, wh  ich I love) Fiona is a pretty brown color, but honestly, browns aren't really my thing. I'll have to figure out a use for this baby. (bare skin swatch on right.)

Finally...my special treat!

This is Hocus Pocus. A color from Pretty Addictions'   Dancing With The Devil collection. When I opened this, all I could say was ''wow''. Pictures do this one NO justice. It;s described on the website as a duochrome that works best with a base ( bare skin swatch on right for comparison.) Goregeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS.

For comparitive purposes, Hocus Pocus is on the bottom. That's right, it was a delux sized sample she threw in , for free, in addition to the bagged sample. <3

Like Isaid, there will be a look later with Gossip, I can't wait to show it off!

Pocketbacs galore!

I took a few pictures of my Bath and Bod Works hand sanitizer collection the other day, figuring if nothing else, I could have a mini ''throwaway'' post, if you will. Nothing majorly exciting here, but I'm really trying to have this blog be a daily thing, like I originally intended, so here it is.
Yeah. It's just a bag full o'sanitizers.
Shown next to my hand for size comparison.

All spread out, it doesn't really look like too many, does it? Or is that just me?

Vanilla Bean Noel, <3 Our Associates berry, Lemon Glaze Cupcake., Fresh Market Apple, Tangelo Orange, Midnight Pomegranate.

White Citrus, Tropical Passionfruit (down to the verrry last teenytiny bit of it..it's a discontinued scent), Nectarine Mint, Mango Margarita, Crushed Berry.

(Same Lemon Glaze from pic #1), Red Velvet cupcake (HAD to have that one), I Love Cake, Comet's Ginger Mint, Pistachio Vanilla, Mocha Mousse (YUM!) Sweet Tea, Scorpio Starfruit.

(Same Passionfruit as before), Mint Chocolate (I own 5 of this one),Raspberry Donut, Same Crushed Berry, Haunted House Sour Drop (Glows in the dark), Cinnamon Roll Donut.

Same Raspberry donut, Candy Corn, Jelly Donut, Vampire Blood Plum.

Same I love Cake and Ginger Mint, Rudy's Cocoa Mint, Chocolate Cake Donut, same Scorpio Starfruit, Honey Pretzel (really), Scary Cats Black Cherry.
I also just realized I cut the Zombie Squad Marshmallow out of the pictures :( Sorry dude.
In total, I have about 43 of these things, including a couple that didn't make it into this picture.

Anyone else out there have any opinions of these? What scents are you looking forward to trying? (The new Christmas ones just came out, including reindeer brownie, penguin pwppermint patty, and Mrs. Claus' Apple Pie.

That Sephora post I mentioned yesterday...

Here it is. I'll be honest, I totally forgot I said I was going to do it...I got so excited about my 13Gypsies review below that the Sephora post slipped my mind.
I'm in the laundrymat waiting on clothes to dry, so why not give you a quick post....

As I've mentioned before, I'm signed up for Sephora's Beauty Insider club. Haven't bought a damn thing yet, but...I'm still signed up, dammit!( You can sign up as well by going here .It's fast and free.)

A perk of membership is a free gift on your birthday. This has been the first year there has been a Sephora anywhere near me, so I jumped at the chance. You simply go into any Sephora (including Sephora inside JC Pennys) and either flash your Beauty Insider card, or tell them your email. A nice thing about this promotion is that you have a good amount of time to claim your prize. Sephora lets you pick up your gift two weeks before or two weeks after your actual bday. Awesome.
Let's take a look at the gift.
Philosophy 6oz. 3-in-1 shower gel/bubble bath/shampoo in Vanilla Birthda Cake (The Pretty Amazing lipcolor sample is not a birthday freebie; rather, it's a Beauty Insider gift any member could pick up during October. I had one already but the makeup gnomes made off with it, and I haven't been able to locate it. Luckily I was able to get a replacement, which is now in a safer place.)EDIT 11/3/11 : I found my original sample. The gnomes must have realized I was onto them.

Upon first sniff, I was a little underwhelmed. I have the Philosophy Mint Chocolate Chip 3-in-1, and it is my absolute FAVORITE. Pure chocolatemint goodness. The Vanilla cake just doesn;t have the same potency right out of the bottle. I tested a tiny bit out by washing my hands with it, and I have to say, it does get a bit stronger once it's lathered up. Still not the strongest scent, though. I'll have to try it as a shampoo or body wash to get the full effect.

Has anyone else out there tried this or any other Philosophy product? What did you think? What's your favorite scent from Philosophy?

Review: 13 Gypsies Perfumery

I stumbled across this company while browsing etsy, and was immediately drawn in by the yummy descriptions of many of the fragrances. As my luck would have it, they were offering a special of 6 mini drams (I believe 1/2 oz, but don't quote me on that) for 40% off the regular price. So I think I ended up paying around $7-8 for the whole set.

My first impression of these: Wow, these are tiny! There wasn't a picture of the size I recieved on the site, so I was a little surprised at that. I was also a bit disappointed to find upon opening the drams, they did not have the rollerball like all the other ones listed. Kind of a bummer, but hey, what can ya do.

The oils came in a cute little moon and stars print organza bag.

Halloween: One of my two favorites of this order. Halloween is described as ''Sugary sweet candy blended with creamy vanilla.'' It's really yummy. My rating is 9/10

Oh Cherry: I'm a sucker for anything cherry scented, especially cherry and almond. 13Gypsies claims this is a mixture of a ''red cherry blend, which also contains a small amount of cognac, to give it a slight kick. This is quite possibly the BEST cherry fragrance you'll find. Most cherry fragrances are overpowering, bitter, or sickeningly sweet, this is not.''
It's not sickeningly sweet, that's for damn sure. It smells more to me like cherry cough syrup. I personally like it, but I know the smell of cherry anything can be a turnoff for that very reason. I give it a 7/10.

Plasma Candy: ''a blend inspired by a dear friend. It contains black cherry, patchouli, & an extra sweet vanilla''
Out of all the scents, this is one that I was most unhappy with. The patchouli in this is so overwhelming I can't distinguish any other scent mentioned in the mix. It smells like inscense, straight up. I really wanted to like this one, especially bc of the black cherry and vanilla, but I just can't get past the heavy patchouli. Score 3/10

The Great Pumpkin. Couldn't get a good picture of this for shit =[  .This is a blend of pumpkin pie, cake, brown sugar, chocolate, & spices. OHMYGODIWANTTOWEARTHISEVERYDAYFORTHERESTOFMYLIFE...ok, I'm better now. Seriously, this is AMAZING. Smells like cake batter with chocolate frosting and a touch of pumpkin pie spice. I like to mix it with Halloween for the ultimate choco-pumpkin-cakey goodness. This scent is in my beauty hall of fame. (post on that in the future). Score: 25/10  (;D)

Eat me: I almost smell strawberry in this one. It's described simply as a cupcake and frosting blend. The label is too freaking cute, and the smell is pretty good, if not exactly like the description. Not overwhelmingly sweet, which is what I expected. Score 8/10

Diablo Rojo: I have no idea what compelled me to pick this one out. It's another one of the ''strong enough to choke a horse'' scents. Described on the site as ''a blend of patchouli, red cherries, walnut, & almond.''. Oh wait, now I remember why I bought it. See that evil word ''cherries'' again, don'tcha? Cherry, almond, walnut..YUM. Add patchouli and it becomes the stuff sadness is made of. Whoever mixes these is WAY too heavy handed with the patchouli. I know it's a strong scent, but good god. Score 2/10

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the order. I just know now to stay far, FAR away from any scent with the dreaded ''P'' ingredient. But if I could order enough Great Pumpkin to fill a pool, believe me, I would.

13 Gypsies currently has a facebook page, where you can check out a whole master list of scents they offer. I don't believe she is actually taking orders right now, but I could be wrong. Looking at the list, I can say I'd definitely be interested in a few other scents, like 13, Black Raven, Carnivale, Cauldron Smoke, Jeepers Creepers, Lulu, Skarlet, and Sweet Dreams.
Looking over this master list on their FB, I can see that A LOT of thier fragrances have patchouli in them. This makes me a bit sad. My overall experience with 13 Gypsies perfumery would be a 7/10. I would buy from them in the future, now that I have an idea of their fragrances, pricing, sizes, etc.

No creative name for this post.

Again, my blog has been sorely neglected. Clearly, I suck. Truthfully, I've been rushing to get to work lately and barely have time to do my makeup, nevermind photograph it. I really should get better at handling life.
Anyways, here's a little post for you today.
Look was done with Pretty Addictions eye shadow in Obnoxious. This is their #1 selling color, and looking at it, I'm sure you can tell why.
I'm not sure if I mentioned quite how much I adore Pretty Addictions. The color payoff is spectacular, and  owner Kassandra is always coming up with new colors and collections. This is one of my favorite companies, based on customer service, prices, and color selection. Her blog is amazing as well. Everytime I read it I get super jealous, because she ALWAYS has awesome stuff to blog about (LUSH and Fortune Cookie Soaps being two things that come to mind) and I  just don't have the $$$ to try the stuff she orders, which makes me sad =( Anywhoo, onto the look, lol.

The top color -the darker blue- is an unnamed blue from Icing. This has one of the coolest textures I've ever come across in a shadow. If you put your finger in it, it feels spongy, almost like an ink pad. Not sure why that pleases me so much, but it really does. Not to mention the color is wonderful, too. I generally stay away from darkdark blues, but this one reminds me of blueberry pie or something. It's just a lush, juicy color you could almost bite into..(or not, because that would be weird >.> )It looks a lot lighter than normal bcause i was very very light-handed with it. Not trying to overshadow -pun intended,harhar- Obnoxious.

Also used was Tony and Tina cosmic glitter in Alpha State. I've had this stuff FOREVER. I. LOVE. IT.
It's a beautiful multicolor, almost holographic glitter. I added a bit of no-name silver glitter to my container to give it another level of oomph.

Pics!
LOVE how you can see the holographic sparklies in this picture. Alpha State reminds me of Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure nail polish (for your eyes!)

I also love how Obnoxious looks almost wet in this picture. Obnoxious was applied wet over NYX white base camp primer.
Icing applied dry, and VERY sparingly.
Alpha State was applied over Hard Candy's Showgirl's Secret. (That product is a godsend, let me tell you...)

I will have a Sephora mini review tomorrow,a Pretty Addictions review soon, and a review of Kim's Kreations/Vixoden Cosmetics in the next couple of weeks.Look for Glitterlette to resume a somewhat regular schedule in the very near future.
